COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Sophomore Susana Escobar landed Texas' top morning swim as the Longhorns completed the day two preliminary round session at the 2008 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
Escobar clocked 4:16.81 for 29th place in the 400 IM prelims. Junior Alison Soelter took 43rd in the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.31, and junior Hee-Jin Chang took 44th in the 100 butterfly in 54.47. Freshman Brie Powers followed Chang in 57th in 55.94.
Sophomore Alex Basso took 65th in the 200 freestyle in 1:49.41, and the 200 medley relay of Soelter, Chang, Powers and Basso took 23rd in 1:43.96.
Texas' lone swim in this evening's finals comes in tonight's final event, the 800 freestyle relay. Divers Mary Yarrison and Kathryn Kelly begin the three-meter diving preliminary round at 1:30 p.m. Eastern.
Friday's finals get underway at 7 p.m. Eastern.
