WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Sophomore Elizabeth Tinnon (Bowling Green, Ky.) qualified sixth in the preliminaries of the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 1.19 seconds and Texas posted seven top-16 finishes during Friday morning's preliminary events at the 2005 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.
The Longhorns' 200-yard medley relay of Tinnon, freshman Hayley McGregory (Houston, Texas), sophomore Connie Brown (Andover, Mass.) and senior Sarah Wanzek clocked the fourth-fastest time (1:39.79) in the prelims. Arizona is the top qualifier in the event going into the finals with Georgia and Stanford seeded second and third.
Texas performers who qualified for Friday's consolation finals include sophomore Leah Avilla (Livermore, Calif.) in the 100-yard breaststroke, Wanezek and sophomore Katie Robinson (Dillsboro, Ind.) in the 100-yard butterfly, junior Kristy Siminski (Portage, Ind.) in the 200-yard freestyle and McGregory in the 100-yard backstroke.
Friday's finals events will begin at 6 p.m. CST.
