Women's Swimming qualifies 10 swimmers for NCAA Championships

AUSTIN, Texas – Ten individual qualifiers and two additional relay alternate swimmers will represent Texas at the NCAA Championships set for March 21-23 in Indianapolis. In addition, Texas has qualified all five relays to compete at the national meet. The Texas divers will attempt to qualify for the NCAA Championships beginning Monday, March 11 at the NCAA Zone “D” Diving Meet in Houston.

Senior All-Americans Laura Sogar, Kelsey Amundsen and Bethany Adams will compete at the NCAA Championships for the fourth time in as many years. Sogar is seeded second nationally in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:05.04) and third in the 100 breaststroke (58.32). Sogar will also have the option of competing in the 200 individual medley.

Amundsen is the 25th seed in the 100 butterfly (52.57) and will have the option of competing in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. Adams will go to Indianapolis as a relay alternate.

Juniors All-Americans Ellen Lobb, Lily Moldenhauer, Samantha Tucker and Sarah Denninghoff each will make their third consecutive appearances at the NCAA Championships. Lobb is seeded 23rd in the 50 freestyle (22.27), 32nd in the 100 butterfly (52.73) and 51st in the 100 freestyle (49.32).

Moldenhauer is seeded 18th in the 100 backstroke (52.62), 55th in the 200 backstroke (1:59.05) and 38th in the 100 butterfly. Tucker holds the 12th seed in the 200 freestyle (1:44.74), the 37th seed in the 100 freestyle (48.99) and the 61st seed in the 50 freestyle (22.96).

Denninghoff will make her first NCAA Championships appearance as a Longhorn after earning nine All-America honors the last two seasons at Arizona. Denninghoff is seeded ninth in the 100 backstroke (52.10), 10th in the 200 backstroke (1:53.21) and 15th in the 200 freestyle (1:44.96). Junior Alex Hooper, like Adams, will be an alternate on relays.

Sophomores Gretchen Jaques, Kelsey LeNeave, Kaitlin Pawlowicz and Skylar Smith all will make their second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships. Jaques is seeded 14th in the 100 breaststroke (59.64), 29th in the 100 butterfly (52.65) and 31st in the 200 breaststroke (2:10.83). LeNeave is seeded 28th in the 1,650 freestyle (16:14.36), 33rd in the 200 freestyle (1:45.85) and 37th in the 500 freestyle (4:42.88).

Pawlowicz is 20th nationally in the 400 individual medley (4:09.98) and the 1,650 freestyle (16:09.96) and 38th nationally in the 500 freestyle (4:42.90). Smith is seeded 16th in the 200 individual medley (1:57.12) and 48th in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.91) and 200 breaststroke (2:12.75) events.

Texas will take top-12 seeds or better in all five relays. The Longhorns are seeded ninth in the 200 medley (1:36.69), 400 medley (3:31.98) and 400 freestyle relays (3:15.83). UT holds the 11th seed in the 800 freestyle relay (7:01.61) and the 12th seed in the 200 freestyle relay (1:29.14).
