Thirteen women swimmers get invites to NCAA Championships
AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas women's swimming team received 13 invitations for the 2006 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, the fourth most in the nation, today when the meet psyche sheet was released by the NCAA. For seniors Amanda Larence (Nashville, Tenn.), Jaclyn Faulkner (New Orleans, La.), Kristy Siminski (Portage, Ind.) and Elizabeth Wycliffe (Kingston, Ontario) it will be the last trip to the big dance hosted by The University of Georgia on March 16-18 in Athens, Ga. Siminski is a six-time All-American, Wycliffe has two All-American certificates while Faulkner is a returning All-American Honorable Mention honorees. Junior Stephanie Anderson (Scottsdale, Ariz.), junior Leah Avilla (Livermore, Calif.), junior Connie Brown (Andover, Mass.), freshman Hee-Jin Chang (Seoul, Korea), junior Elaine Ferritto (Columbus, Ohio), freshman Lina Petersson (Karlskrona, Sweden), junior Katie Robinson (Dillsboro, Ind.), freshman Alexi Spann (Austin, Texas) and junior Elizabeth Tinnon (Bowling Green, Ky.) will also be representing UT in Athens, Ga. for the NCAA Championships. Tinnon has been named All-America six-times in her career, Brown is a four-time All-American award winner and Robinson was named All-America Honorable Mention last year. Avilla also took home two Honorable Mention All-American honors last season. Texas also qualified five relay teams; the 200-yard medley relay, the 400-yard medley relay, the 200-yard freestyle relay, the 400-yard freestyle relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay. The 200-yard medley relay time of 1:38.48 is currently the second fastest time in the country, entering the NCAA championships. The UT divers will be looking to qualify for NCAAs at the Zone D Diving meet at Missouri in Columbia, Mo., on March 10-12. Junior Mary Yarrison (Springfield, Va.), sophomore Jessica Livingston (Houston, Texas) and freshman Kathryn Kelly (Longwood, Fla.) and Kara-Jayne Salamone (Cooper City, Fla.) have all qualified for the zone meet and will be looking to join their teammates at Georgia.
