INDIANAPOLIS - USA Diving announced Friday the selection of Texas freshman diver Meghan Houston to its roster for the upcoming FINA USA Diving Grand Prix and Canada Cup contested later this spring.
Houston will team up with University of Georgia diver Laura Ryan to represent the United States at the two meets in the women’s synchronized three-meter event. The FINA USA Diving Grand Prix is slated for May 9-12 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Canada Cup is set for May 2-5 in Gatineau, Quebec.
Houston excelled in three-meter synchronized diving competition last year before enrolling at Texas. The Austin native won the event at the 2012 AT&T National Diving Championships and the 2012 U.S. Junior National Championships. Houston also placed eighth in the event at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials.
Houston and the Texas divers will compete at the Big 12 Championships beginning Feb. 27 at UT’s Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
