Women's Swimming and Diving finishes strong against Indiana and Michigan

AUSTIN, Texas - Texas notched 13 wins in an unscored meet against Indiana and Michigan Saturday at UT's Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. Scores were not awarded given that the team competitions were contested on Friday, when UT defeated the Hoosiers and Wolverines. Saturday's meet gave swimmers opportunities to compete in unconventional college events, such as the 50 breaststroke, butterfly and backstroke. Senior Kelsey Amundsen posted wins in the 100 butterfly (55.26) and the 50 freestyle (23.52). Senior Bethany Adams took the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.00, while junior Alex Hooper won the 200 freestyle (1:50.45) and the 100 freestyle (50.95). Sophomore Gretchen Jaques was victorious in three events and logged wins in the 50 butterfly (25.30), 200 breaststroke (2:18.05) and the 50 breaststroke (28.80).
Sophomore Shelby Webber swept the 50 backstroke (26.81) and 100 backstroke
(56.73), while sophomore Kelsey LeNeave took the 50 freestyle in 24.01. Senior
Laura Sogar added a win in the 200 IM in 2:04.82. Fifth-year senior Shelby Cullinan
won the platform diving event with 278.85 points.
Texas resumes fall competition next weekend on the west coast when it takes on California and Stanford in separate road meets. |
