Taylor and Houston finish eighth in 3-meter synchro

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Junior Maren Taylor and incoming freshman Meghan Houston combined to score 738.72 points and finish eighth in the 3-meter synchronized springboard competition at the Olympic Team Trials in Federal Way, Wash. In the finals on Thursday, the two divers teamed up to post a score of 165 points but it was not enough to move up in the overall standings. The top dive of the evening for the duo netted 59.4 points for the inward 2 1/2 somersault pike. The pair also scored 58.5 points on their forward 2 1/2 somersault 1 twist pike to end the day. For Taylor it was a strong first meet back since suffering a dislocated elbow 15 months ago at the 2011 NCAA Championships. Her and Houston were less than four points off of sixth place. The winner of the event was Abby Johnston and Kelci Bryant with 956.40 points.
