Taylor qualifies for NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas freshman diver Maren Taylor secured a berth in next week's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships by placing fourth in the women's one-meter diving event Friday at the NCAA Zone "D" Diving Meet at Texas A&M's Student Rec Center Natatorium. With 12 women's diving bids for the NCAA Championships available from Zone "D", the top-four finishers in Friday's one-meter event were set to earn their entries to the national championships, and Taylor secured her spot by taking fourth with 564.15 points. UT freshman Diana Wilcox took 12th with 514.15 points, and freshman Samantha Holland placed 13th with 507.80 points. Sophomore Lauren Caldwell placed 28th overall with 225.40 points. The other three divers to earn NCAA Championships bids on Friday were Houston's Anastasia Pozdniakova, Minnesota's Kelci Bryant and Texas A&M's Jaele Patrick. The Texas diving contingent will compete on Saturday in the three-meter event. Wilcox, Holland and Caldwell will earn NCAA Championships berths if they place in the top-five in the three-meter event.
