Longhorn Network to televise 29 Texas Softball games

AUSTIN, Texas - Longhorn Network, the 24/7 University of Texas network, will exclusively televise 29 Texas Softball games from February 7 through May 12, comprising more than 54 hours of live Longhorn Softball.

LHN's coverage will commence Thursday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. Central as the Longhorns take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Red & Charline McCombs Field during the Texas Classic.

The Longhorns concluded the 2012 season with a 47-13 record and finished with a No. 9 ranking in the USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) poll.

Anchoring this year's squad will be seniors Kim Bruins, Taylor Hoagland, Blaire Luna and Torie Schmidt. The four have posted a combined record of 136-38 (.781 winning percentage) during their three years on the Forty Acres. The group has gone 42-10 (.808 winning percentage) in Big 12 Conference action, made three-straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Super Regional a year ago. Also in 2012, Luna was a Second-Team Easton All-America honoree while Luna and Schmidt joined Luna as NFCA All-Central Region selections.

Joining the Longhorns in 2013 are freshmen Stephanie Ceo, Holly Kern, Taylor King, Rachel Scott, Erin Shireman and Lindsey Stephens.
