Softball returns to campus, welcomes six freshmen

AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Texas Softball program welcomed 10 letterwinners back to campus for the fall semester on Wednesday and also greeted six freshmen.
Anchoring this year's squad will be seniors Kim Bruins, Taylor Hoagland, Blaire Luna and Torie Schmidt. The four have posted a combined record of 136-38 (.781 winning percentage) during their three years on the Forty Acres. The group has gone 42-10 (.808 winning percentage) in Big 12 Conference action, made three-straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Super Regional a year ago.
Joining the Longhorns in 2012 are freshmen Stephanie Ceo, Holly Kern, Taylor King, Rachel Scott, Erin Shireman and Lindsey Stephens.
The team opens the fall competition slate Friday, Sept. 28 with a single game against Alvin Community College inside McCombs Field at a to be determined time.
