OKLAHOMA CITY -- Texas rising sophomore Blaire Luna made her KFC World Cup of Softball debut on Sunday with a 6.0-inning effort that propelled the USA Futures Team to a 2-1 victory over the Japan National Team.

Luna picked up the victory after scattering six hits over 6.0 innings and allowing just one run, while walking one and fanning one. Jordan Taylor came on in relief after Luna allowed one run in the seventh, notching the save and preserving the victory for the U.S.

The USA Futures team did not score until the sixth, plating two runs to take a 2-0 edge. The U.S. used back-to-back singles by Raven Chavanne and Katelyn Boyd to start the rally for the Red, White and Blue. A sac bunt by Valerie Arioto put runners at second and third when pinch hitter Megan Langenfeld reached on a throwing error that allowed Chavanne and Boyd to score.

In the bottom of the Japan's Maki Tanigawa reached on an error by shortstop Molly Johnson and Naoko Matsumoto singled through the left side which forced Luna from the game. Taylor allowed one hit but used her defense to keep Japan scoreless the rest of the way.
