June 13, 2012
Former Texas Softball catcher Amy Hooks (Mesquite, Texas/North Mesquite HS) made her professional debut last Thursday for the Carolina Diamonds of the National Pro Fastpitch League (NPF). She opened with an 0-for-1 performance at the plate.
Hooks was the 2011 Big 12 Player of the Year and earned Easton All-America second team honors after batting .333 with 13 home runs and 36 RBI in her senior season. She had set the UT career mark for home runs (36) until this year when her record was broken by Taylor Hoagland.
