NCAA Softball Austin Regional postgame quotes: Auburn vs. Houston
May 18, 2012 HOUSTON Head Coach Kyla Holas On the team's ability to continue in the last few innings:That is something that has been a key for us. We have asked our team to win with offense and defense; today I thought they did a great job with that. I did a great job behind the pitcher, not allowing anything abstract. On facing left-handed pitchers:That is something we have practices all week. We are fortunate that we have two lefties on our staff, we were able to use them as much as possible. We had not prepared for three pitchers in one game; we were just trying to prepare for the one that we thought they would go to but the offense was able to put some pressure on their pitchers to have to make some changes. I thought overall as an offense we did really good. On Houston's seventh-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament: Those are some of the behind the scenes things that I do not know about, but I think that is big for a school like Houston. I don't think a lot of people expect that from a mid-major. I thought we did a great job representing. We came and said it doesn't matter at this point anyone can win. Sophomore pitcher Bailey Watts AUBURN
Freshman outfielder Branndi Melero On her homerun:I was going out there trying to make sure that I was going to get on base, trying to do whatever I can for the team, sure enough she threw it right there and it took off. On the loss: It is disappointing but I know that our team can come back in the two games that we have tomorrow. We are going to come out, kick butt, and keep winning. |
