Tresselt named to CoSIDA Academic All-District softball team
May 7, 2010
AUSTIN, Texas -- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) have named Texas senior righthander Erin Tresselt to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 6 First Team. The honor is the second-straight all-district honor for Tresselt and marks the third straight year Texas has landed at least one student-athlete on the team. Texas' all-time leader in career saves, Tresselt is the seasoned veteran of the 2010 Longhorns' pitching staff. The Horns' go-to reliever over the past three seasons, Tresselt has made 83 career appearances in the circle, a mark that ranks fourth all-time in UT's rich pitching history. Tresselt has been a master of control during her UT career, ranking No. 2 all-time in fewest walks allowed per-game (1.30). Her 2.52 career earned run average ranks 10th all-time at Texas, while her 1.14 ERA in 2007 ranked ninth nationally. Despite her role as a reliever, Tresselt has notched 23 victories in her career and ranks ninth all-time at UT in wins. In the classroom, Tresselt is Texas' leading scholar, carrying a 3.54 cumulative GPA in finance/pre-med. She has been named the Texas Softball Academic MVP three times (2008, 2009, 2010) and has earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors in each of the past two seasons (2008, 2009). In 2009, she garnered ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team honors. Tresselt has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in each of her seven semesters at Texas. In 2009, Tresselt was selected from all Texas female athletes to receive the UT Athletics Coca Cola Solid Citizen Award. This season Tresselt was voted team captain by her teammates for her hard work and leadership throughout the previous year. Tresselt and her Texas teammates return to action at Noon Central on Sunday, May 9 when they host No. 10 Georgia in game one of a two-game series.
