Softball to honor alumnae at Big 12 opener
AUSTIN, Texas -- As the No. 10 Texas Softball team prepares for its Big 12 opener against No. 3 Oklahoma on Saturday March 24, the team will also pay tribute to its former letterwinners. The Longhorns will honor their former players that have contributed to the program's success during its 11-year history, with softball's second annual alumni day.
A total of 22 former players are expected to attend, providing a collection of Texas' former greats that span from the program's inaugural year in 1996 through last season's Women's College World Series squad. The second annual softball alumni day allows The University of Texas and its fans to honor its former student-athletes that have contributed to the success of the program, while also serving as a testament to the progress of head coach Connie Clark's program during her 11-year tenure.
The alumni festivities begin at 10 a.m. with a pregame brunch, allowing the former players to spend time with the current team and staff. Prior to the 1 p.m. game against Oklahoma, the former players will be re-introduced to the McCombs Field crowd.
