UT Continues Action At Texas Classic With Two Saturday …
Texas looks to get back on the winning track Saturday after suffering its first loss of the 2013 campaign Saturday evening against Tulsa. UT’s 13-game winning streak to start the season was the second longest to open a year in program history and tied for the sixth-best run ever.
UT And Utah State …
Saturday’s contest against the Aggies will be the first meeting between the two programs. Entering the game, the Longhorns are 86-16-1 versus current members of the Western Athletic Conference.
Checking The Polls ...
UT remained at No. 6 in this week’s USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and ESPN.com/USA Softball polls. Texas had opened the year at No. 7 (NFCA) and No. 9 (USA Softball) before moving up to No. 6/6 for the second week of the season.
The rankings are the highest UT has been in the third week of the season since placing No. 4 in both polls Feb. 13, 2006. Overall, the rankings are the highest since standing No. 5 (NFCA) and No. 6 (USA Softball) in the April 17, 2012, editions of the polls.
A Near Permanent Fixture in the Polls ...
Texas has been ranked in the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com//USA Softball polls for 51-straight weeks, from 2010 preseason to the current edition. The last poll the Longhorns were unranked was the final 2009 edition, when the team was receiving votes.
Going More Than One At A Time ...
Texas’ power has been on full display so far this season. Of the Longhorns’ 120 hits, 38 have been for extra bases (31.7 percent).
On-Base Machines ...
Power and speed are two critical parts of the Texas offense, and both are aided by a high on-base percentage. Through the first 14 games, the Longhorns have a .440 on-base percentage. In the last four years, Texas has posted the four highest on-base percentages in program history.
Stephens Coming Through In A Pinch ...
Freshman Lindsey Stephens leads the Longhorns with two pinch hits this season. In her most recent pinch hit, Stephens drove in her first career run with a single up the middle that plated classmate Stephanie Ceo in the bottom of the sixth against DePaul Sunday morning.

UT concludes action at the Texas Invitational presented by Time Warner Cable with a 10 a.m. Sunday contest. The opponent will be determined Saturday based on semifinal results.
