Osterman to be honored on Saturday at McCombs Field

AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas Softball team, Red McCombs and artist Jim McKinnis will honor former Longhorn Cat Osterman prior to the Horns' game on Saturday, Feb. 7. Osterman will be presented with a painting before UT takes on Iowa at 1:30 p.m. in the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational. In recognition of her outstanding career, Osterman will be presented the specially-commissioned painting "The Art of the Pitch" featuring the former Longhorns pitcher during her time at Texas. During her four years on the Forty Acres, she was named USA Softball National Player of the Year three times and is a two-time Olympian. Osterman was a four-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American and a four-time Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Year making her the first Big 12 student-athlete across all sports to earn a player of the year honor four times. Following the Horns' first game, Osterman will sign autograph cards in the tent located beyond the centerfield wall. Only one item per person may be autographed.
