Softball alumni upend varsity, 3-0
Oct. 24, 2010
AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Alumni returned to Red & Charline McCombs Field to defeat the varsity 3-0 in the inaugural Texas Softball Alumni game.
The Alumni used a pair of stellar pitching performances from Meagan Denny and four-time All-American Cat Osterman to shut down the 2010-11 Longhorns. Denny pitched a perfect 4.0 innings while striking out five. Osterman then finished the final 3.0 innings, striking out six and only allowing a bunt single to freshman outfielder Brejae Washington, who was Texas' only baserunner.
The alumni offense was led by 2006 graduate Chez Sievers, whose two-run home run in the first inning opened the scoring.
Texas sophomore righthander Blaire Luna pitched a complete game for the Horns, allowing two earned runs off of five hits, while striking out 11.
Texas returns to action on Friday, Oct. 29 when it hosts a doubleheader with Alvin Community College. First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m. Central.
