Former Texas standout Chez Sievers returns to the Forty Acres as a volunteer assistant on head coach Connie Clark's staff for the 2012 season. She joins the Longhorns' staff after spending the 2011 season in her first Division I coaching position as an assistant coach on Cal State Fullerton's staff. After a decorated career with the Longhorns, Sievers served as a volunteer assistant at UT in the fall of 2006 before graduating and embarking on a career in the private sector. During her time away from the collegiate game she maintained ties to the softball community as a coach with the San Diego Strokes and California Cruisers club programs. As a collegian, Sievers was a three-time All-Big 12 selection and the league's Freshman of the Year in 2003. She helped Texas to three berths in the Women's College World Series (2003, 2005-06), two Big 12 titles (2003, 2006) and two Big 12 tournament crowns (2003, 2005) during her UT career. A three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and a 2005 all-region and Easton All-America selection, Sievers finished her career hitting .285 with 63 runs scored and 51 extra base hits, including 12 home runs and 87 RBI. A Mission Viejo, Calif., native, Sievers graduated from Texas in 2006 with a degree in communication studies. |
