Soccer lands three on NSCAA All-Central Region Third Team

Dec. 13, 2010

AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas soccer team placed three players on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Central Region Third team, the organization announced. Junior Kylie Doniak made her second-straight appearance while senior Erica Campanelli and freshman Nina Frausing Pedersen earned the honor for the first time of their career. The Horns have had at least one selection to the teams every year for the last 11 seasons.

Doniak, who was a third-team selection in 2009, led the Longhorns this season with 23 points off seven goals and nine assists. The midfielder's nine helpers were the most by a Longhorn since 2006 and tie for the sixth-most in UT single-season history. In addition, Doniak was an All-Big 12 second team selection and recorded a six-match streak of posting either a goal or an assist over the course of the season.

Campanelli, who was a preseason All-Big 12 selection this year, helped the Texas defense post eight shutouts and kept Big 12 opponents to just seven goals over 10 matches. The senior started on the UT backline in every match of her four-year career and her 88 starts rank as the third most in Texas history.

Defender Frausing Pedersen was one of three Longhorn freshmen to earn a starting spot during 2010. Despite missing six matches due to injury, Pedersen helped the Horns post five shutouts during her 15 games. Pedersen was also named to the 2010 Big 12 All-Newcomer Team and tallied one assist during the season.
