Six from Soccer selected to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team

AUSTIN, Texas -- Six members of The University of Texas soccer team earned selections to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 6 team, as announced Wednesday, Nov. 7 by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

Senior forward Kelsey Carpenter (Allen, Texas) and junior defenders Stephanie Logterman (Austin, Texas) and Jill Gilbeau (San Diego, Calif.) earned selections to the first team, while sophomore forward Emily Anderson (Austin, Texas) was selected to the second team. Junior goalkeeper Dianna Pfenninger (Sugar Land, Texas) and senior midfielder Greta Carter (Arlington, Texas) were named to the third team.

Carpenter, who carries a 3.51 GPA in sport management, and Logterman, who holds a 3.86 GPA in humanities, collect their initial first-team selection after receiving second-team honors during the 2006 season. Gilbeau, a biology major with a 3.90 GPA, receives her first selection to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team.

Anderson, who carries a 4.00 GPA in business, garners her first selection to the team in her initial season of eligibility for the award. Pfenninger, who carries a 3.22 GPA in public relations, also earned her first selection to the team.

The six Longhorns earned their second set of academic accolades in as many days after earning first-team selections to the Academic All-Big 12 Soccer Team on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
