Two Longhorns named to Capital One Academic All-District women's soccer team

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Longhorns had two players named to the Capital One Division I Academic All-District 7 Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Friday afternoon. Senior Lucy Keith and sophomore Nina Frausing Pedersen were both named to the All-District 7 Second Team as defenders. Keith has started all 20 games for the Longhorns, serving as the lone team captain. She registered seven points on two goals and three assists. She notched game-winning goals against Houston and Cal State Northridge. Through the Spring 2011 semester Keith owns a 3.31 grade-point average in public relations. Pedersen has started 18 games as a sophomore, missing the Longhorns’ two Big 12 Championship games with an ankle injury. She has seven points on two goals and three assists. Pedersen was named All-Big 12 Second Team this season after hauling in Big 12 All-Newcomer recognition in 2010. Through the Spring 2011 semester Pederesen owns a 3.52 grade-point average in business finance and sports management. It marks the 10th consecutive year the Longhorns had multiple players earn Academic All-District accolades. To be nominated for all-district consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve who has played in at least 50 percent of her team’s games. The student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for her career. No athlete is eligible until he has reached sophomore athletic and academic standing. The teams are voted on by CoSIDA members in the district.
