Five from Soccer named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI team
AUSTIN, Texas -- Less than 24 hours after winning its quarterfinal match-up in the Big 12 Soccer Championship, the University of Texas women's soccer team received more good news. A program best five UT soccer student-athletes were named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI University teams as voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors Society of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday, Nov. 2.
Senior Amy Burlingham (Costa Mesa, Calif.) and Karen Haight (Beaverton, Ore.) were named to the first team while senior Priscilla Fite (Irving, Texas), Stephanie Logterman (Austin, Texas) and Kelsey Carpenter (Allen, Texas) were second-team selections.
The honor marks the third consecutive year that Burlingham has received such recognition. As first-team selections, Haight and Burlingham are eligible for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America accolades, which will be announced in late November.
