Soccer places four on ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Teams

Oct. 30, 2008

AUSTIN, Texas - Four University of Texas soccer players were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 6 Women's Soccer Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. UT placed three Longhorns on the First Team, tying Oklahoma State for the most First-Team selections in the district.

Seniors Stephanie Logterman and Jill Gilbeau and junior Emily Anderson earned First Team honors and are now eligible for All-America status. Gilbeau (3.78 GPA, Biology) and Logterman (3.88 GPA, Humanities, pre-med) are repeat First Team selections, while Anderson (4.00 GPA, Accounting) earned her first spot on the First Team after being named to the second team a year ago. Anderson was one of just three players selected in the district to post a perfect 4.00 GPA.

Sophomore Erica Campanelli (3.88 GPA, Liberal Arts) earned her first Academic All-District nod with her Second Team selection.

District 6 includes all Division I schools in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. To be nominated for all-district consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for her career. No athlete is eligible until he has reached sophomore athletic and academic standing.

Texas concludes its 2008 regular-season schedule with a home match against Baylor on Friday, Oct. 31. First kick for Senior Night is set for 7 p.m. Central at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
