Wilson earns Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week honors
NEW YORK -- Two days after receiving her third career Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honor, University of Texas senior forward Kelly Wilson (Odessa, Texas) claimed her second-ever Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week national weekly accolade on Thursday, Oct. 28. Of note, while Wilson is one of only 11 players included on this week's team, the national weekly honor also marks the first for a UT player this season. Texas' career leader in points (116) and assists (38) entering last week's action, Wilson tied teammate Kelly McDonald for the school's game-winning scores (11) career mark by tallying both overtime game-winners for UT in 1-0 victories over Iowa State (10/22) and No. 6 Kansas (10/24). The Odessa, Texas, native and two-time All-American sent the Horns to victory over the Cyclones in the first overtime before notching the double-overtime winner against the Jayhawks with just under two minutes remaining in the second extra session. Currently, Wilson leads the Longhorns with 11 goals, 11 assists, 33 points and four game-winning goals through 18 regular-season contests.
