On Target with Kelly Wilson: October 28

On the games against Iowa State and Kansas last weekend ...
"Going into this past weekend we knew that we needed a pair of wins against two great teams and we knew that it was going to be tough. For the seniors, we were also very excited going into both matches because we knew that these were our last home games during the regular season. Looking back, I thought that we played extremely well. I also felt that our defense did a great job because they gave us the chance to win both games. The match that we played on Sunday versus Kansas was an extremely emotional and exciting game for all of the seniors since it was Senior Day. Scoring the game-winning goal in double-overtime was a relief because I felt that my teammates had set me up on more than one occasion during regulation. Being able to capitalize on one of those chances though was very exciting. I know that for all of the seniors on Sunday, it was a very rewarding and memorable moment. I mean, being able to get such a big win against the sixth-ranked team in the country is something that will give us the confidence and excitement we need to carry us through the postseason."

On playing in the Big 12 Tournament and its new format ...
"It is going to be a tough battle because the tournament is comprised of the top eight teams in the conference. I am not sure who we are going to draw first yet, but we are going to just concentrate on getting through that first game before we think about anything else. We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to play in the tournament. By not playing this weekend, we will be able to have some time to keep our players fresh and focus on one opponent at a time. We will also have a few more practice days which will be a great opportunity for us to work on some areas that we need to improve on. In terms of the format, I think that we are going to like it. Instead of playing on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, we now play every other day (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday), which is good because it is hard to play two games back-to-back and then only have one day to rest before the championship match. While everyone had to play back-to-back games which made it fair, I think all of the players are going to like the new format better. We are going to be able to help our teams more because we will be fresh."

On being roommates with Kati McBain ...
"It's awesome. Kati is one of my best friends and we get along really well. It is hard not having her on the team any more, but it is great to still have her as a roommate. She also comes to most of the games. She is great to talk to whenever I need advice in any area of my life, especially soccer."

On what you will miss most about playing soccer at UT ...
"I am going to miss everything about it. I am going to miss my teammates and all of the fun we have with each other ‹ being out on the field and competing as well as all of the road trips. I am also going to miss the butterflies I get before the game and all of the excitement after a big win. Mostly though, I am going to miss being around my team. It is so special to be able to have such a great connection and chemistry with a team. It is fun to go to practice, fun to be on the field and fun to compete with all of them."

On advice you would like to pass on to your younger teammates ...
"Enjoy every second of the game and every second of every practice because it goes by so fast. Have fun doing what you love to do and don't forget to make it fun."
