Catchin' up with Chris: Oct. 27

What were your thoughts on how the team played this past weekend, with two double overtime matches? We played well, we fought really hard and defended really well. I feel like we made a big step forward as far as the effort we give per game. What did it take from the players to get that win on Sunday in double overtime? We were tired. At this point in the season, the minutes really start to take their toll. And with the reduced roster due to injuries, our ladies had to play a lot of minutes. So it took a lot of heart and determination to fight through a game like that. Talk about the team's progression from the beginning of Big 12 play to now where there's the chance they could finish second in the league: I feel like we are just starting to play really well. I wish the season were longer for that reason. We are just now looking more mature than before. The youth of the team cost them to take a lot of the season to get where they are. But then again, if there is a time to peak, this is the right time. What do you expect from Friday's State Farm Lone Star Showdown at Texas A&M? I think it will be a very good game. They are talented this year, as they always are. They put a lot of balls in the box, and they always give a great effort. I think it will be an intense match to play. What's the atmosphere like at Texas A&M? It is fun. It is loud and exciting and the fans are basically right on top of you. We are going to enjoy this trip down there. After opening the '08 Big 12 season with this rivalry, how does it feel to have the game back at the end of the season? It is a game that belongs at the end of the year. It is such a big rivalry and it deserves to be something we look forward to. It doesn't matter what place you are playing for, or the Big 12 standings. The game itself just takes on its own life, because it is Texas vs. Texas A&M. What are you focusing on this week at practice? We are working on keeping possession. We will spend a little time on being a little more aggressive on our one v. one play. And lastly, just try and get some rest this week.
