Soccer hot shots: October 17

Every other Monday during the 2005 regular season, the UT Soccer panel of Melissa Adrouny, Amy Burlingham, Ashley Foster and Carrie Schmit will give you their takes on a popular cultural topic.

The "HOT TOPIC" of the Week: Should reality television shows stay or go?

LONGHORNS PANEL MEMBER #1: Melissa Adrouny (Senior, Goalkeeper)
Vote:
GO & STAY (a few)
Adrouny's Take: I think reality shows have kind of hit their peak. Personally, I think they should start to go because they are beginning to take over television. "The Real World" was the original reality show, so I think with the exception of that program and maybe a few others, reality TV is on its way out the door.

LONGHORNS PANEL MEMBER #2: Ashley Foster (Junior, Forward)
Vote: STAY
Foster's Take: I think some reality TV shows are okay and others are not. Even so, I think they should stay because they have done so well with audiences and people of all ages have a certain reality show that they can watch and relate to.

LONGHORNS PANEL MEMBER #3: Carrie Schmit (Junior, Midfielder)
Vote: STAY
Schmit's Take: They are entertaining, so I think they should stay. Although many of them can also be pretty lame, some are a lot of fun to watch.

LONGHORNS PANEL MEMBER #31: Amy Burlingham (Junior, Forward)
Vote: STAY (a few) & GO
Burlingham's Take: I like certain reality shows such as "Laguna Beach" and other programs like it, but, while I think they are interesting, I think they have kind of gone overboard. I guess if I had to decide, I would want certain ones to stay and others to go.
