AUSTIN, Texas - The Texas Soccer program plays its final Sunday home regular season contest with a 1 p.m. match against Kansas on Oct. 14. The Longhorns are tied for second in the Big 12 Conference with nine points while the Jayhawks are fifth with six points.

Entering Sunday's match, the Longhorns lead the Big 12 in fewest goals allowed during league contests with one. Freshman goalkeeper Abby Smith has played a key role in the defensive excellence. Friday, she made a career-high eight saves to tie sophomore Ava Vogel's totals against BYU and Virginia for the most by a UT goalie this season.
Three weeks ago, Kansas earned its first top-25 ranking since 2009 by checking in at No. 23 in the Soccer America poll. The contest Sunday will also be the Jayhawks' final road contest of the campaign. Junior Caroline Kastor has totaled a team-high 20 points, nine goals, four game-winning goals and 25 shots on goal. Seven of Kastor's goals tied or given KU the lead. Also helping the offense is senior Whitney Berry, who owns a Big 12 second-best six assists. Defensively, senior Kat Liebetrau and sophomore Kaitlyn Stroud have shared the goalkeeping responsibilities with Liebetrau posting three shutouts and appearing in 10 games to Stroud's eight.
Texas returns to the road next weekend, facing Baylor (11-1-3, 2-0-2 Big 12) at 7:00 p.m. Friday in a key Big 12 clash.
