On your hat trick versus Tulane ... "We played a great game. From the offensive standpoint, we were very dynamic up top ‹ playing well with one another and putting together great combinations. It was very rewarding to see things that we worked on during practice show up during the game. We were able to keep the pressure up and didn't let the other team back into the game. Meanwhile, the defensive effort was amazing. I remember Charisse (Co) and Christy (Perkins) making great tackles in our box that prevented the other team from scoring. The great effort from everyone on the team allowed us to get the shutout."
On playing Texas Tech and Baylor on the road ...
"We didn't show up to play in the first half of the game versus Texas Tech. We were surprised to be down 2-1 going into halftime. During the intermission, we knew that this was it -- if we didn't turn the game around our season wouldn't go very well. It was sort of a turning point. We came out in the second half and got the equalizer, which was important, and then were able to score in overtime to pull out with the victory. During that game, we knew what we were capable of and that we weren't playing up to that level, which I think caused some frustration. But at the same time, I think our team showed a lot character by coming back to win. Meanwhile, we learned a lot from the game we played against Baylor. They are a great team, but we didn't come away from that game with the result we wanted. However, we are taking the motivation from last weekend's games into this weekend, which will help us out a lot."
On the best kinds of goals to score ...
"All goals are important, but the best kind to score are the clutch goals. A clutch goal is when your team is up 2-1 and you score the goal that gives your team a 3-1 lead. It is an important goal because the other team could have tied up the game at 2-2, but instead your team is up by two goals. After the clutch goal, you feel that your team can take control of the game from there. The other kind of goals that I enjoy scoring are overtime, game-winning goals. I mean, in our conference, every team is very good, which makes each goal you score very important. Still, the goals that mean the most are clutch goals and game-winning goals."
On being the middle child ...
"I have one older sister (Crystal) and one younger sister (Courtney). There wasn't that much of a difference between how we were raised. The stereotype is that the oldest child is the first to experience things, the middle child is forgotten and the youngest gets to have everything. However, we were all treated pretty equal. I guess that's because my older sister and I are only about one year apart. My youngest sister, meanwhile, is 15 years old. My older sister was a swimmer at New Mexico State. She finished her eligibility, but is still swimming. My younger sister, on the other hand, also plays soccer, so we relate well. She mostly plays forward, but occasionally will also play in the midfield. She is a strong, fast and tall player. Although we are very different in our style of play, we each do well."
On your engagement ...
"It is very exciting. My fiancé (Greg) and I have been dating for almost three years. He actually used to be on the track team here at UT, but has already graduated. He proposed to me the weekend we played Loyola (Md.) and it was completely unpredictable. He had asked my dad about a week before when my parents were in town. Apparently, he was going to propose on Saturday evening of that weekend over dinner, but on Friday night he changed his mind. So, he called my dad on Saturday morning, saying he was going to do it over brunch instead. He came over at about 11:00 am and brought flowers, but I didn't think anything of it because he does nice things like that all of the time. He made a really big brunch while I was in the other room. When he was done, he went into the room I was in and asked me to close my eyes before I came into the kitchen. So I closed my eyes and when I opened them, he proposed to me. It was very unique and unpredictable, but I don't think I would have wanted it any other way. We are now planning for a wedding next summer before he goes to medical school. We are hoping to stay in Texas, but it depends on where he gets accepted for graduate school. After I graduate though, I am looking to either keep playing or coach. I also want to attend graduate school as well."
