Last Time Out: Arizona State, Sept. 14
Texas played to a 0-0 double overtime draw against Arizona State, Sunday, Sept. 14 at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The tie was the Horns first of the season and kept their 20-game home unbeaten streak alive. Texas racked up its fourth shutout of the season while keeper Dianna Pfenninger tallied five saves.
Home Field Advantage
Texas currently owns a 20-game unbeaten streak at home dating back to the 2006 campaign, the longest such stretch in UT soccer history. The Horns' last loss at Mike A. Myers Field came on Sept. 29, 2006 to the No. 17 Oklahoma State Cowgirls (0-1). UT welcomes 11 opponents to their home pitch this season.
National Attention
The Longhorns are ranked in the top 10 in all four national coaches' polls entering the TCU match. Texas is rated No. 7 by SoccerTimes.com and Soccer America. Soccer Buzz gave UT a No. 8 ranking while the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas poll has UT in the No. 10 slot. UT has been ranked in the nation's top 15 for 42-straight games dating back to Oct. 13, 2006.
Dominating Defense
The UT defense has held opponents to just two goals over its first six games. The mark is a program low over a season-opening six-game stretch. The Horns have shut out four opponents while only allowing 30 shots on goal. Texas has posted a school-record 10 shutouts over the past two seasons.
Fresh Faces
UT freshmen have made an immediate impact on the 2008 season. Courtney Goodson has recorded four goals and two assists while Amanda Lisberger has tallied two goals and one assist in that time. Kylie Doniak also recorded one assist. The freshman class accounts for 46 percent of UT's goals (6-of-13), 36 percent of assists (5-of-14), and 40 percent of shots (38-of-95).
