Doniak named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

Aug. 31, 2011

IRVING, Texas -- University of Texas senior forward Kylie Doniak has been name Big 12 Conference Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played from August 22-28, the league announced on Tuesday. It is the first conference accolade of season for Doniak and the Longhons' first weekly honor of the season.

Doniak helped spark one of the most prolific offensive three-game stretches in recent Longhorns history as Texas scored three or more goals in three consecutive games for the first time since 2006 and won three consecutive games by three or more goals for the first time in the history of the program.

Doniak's impressive week began in the Longhorns' 3-0 win against Georgia in which she scored one goal. Doniak added two goals and an assist as the Longhorns eased by Cal State-Northridge 5-1. Both goals scored by Doniak against Cal State-Northridge came in the first five minutes of the second half. The wins against Georgia and Cal State-Northridge along with another 3-0 win against Houston on Aug. 22 helped the Longhorns complete their historic week.

With seven points on the week Doniak now leads the Big 12 Conference in points (nine) and is tied for the league lead with four goals.

The Longhorns own a 3-1 record heading into the weekend with home games against UTSA (Friday, Sept. 2, 7 p.m. Central) and Dartmouth (Sunday, Sept. 4, noon Central) at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Both games will be televised on the Longhorn Network.
