Catchin' up with Chris Petrucelli: Aug. 31
Aug. 31, 2009 On biggest difference between the TCU and Houston matches: We played better, which the score obviously reflected. We were a little sharper, we were a little more focused and there was more effort in the way that we played. We had an extra week of training and an extra week to get ourselves going in the right direction and that definitely helped us on Friday. On having freshman Hannah Higgins and sophomore Amanda Lisberger back in the lineup: Well both of those guys have a lot of pace and are tricky. It just made us more dangerous and gave us a few more weapons. On midfielders Kylie Doniak and Lucy Keith scoring for the Longhorns: That's something we've talked about for sure and something we've been focusing on with them throughout the week. We were focusing on trying to get them into the penalty area and places where they could be dangerous. It's good to see that that worked out and we are going to keep pushing them to make that happen. On the backline coming together: They're definitely doing better. And again, I think that's in part due to just having another week of training under our belt. Every week they keep getting better and better. They're going to be really good by the time it's all done. It just takes time to put that all together. On first road trip of the year this weekend: I think we'll be looking a lot at our possession and the ability to keep the ball. We'll continue to focus on the effort of our midfield and getting our midfield players forward. And I think we need to get a little better on our restarts.
On facing ranked opponents on the road this weekend in No. 16 California: It's going to be a tough weekend. Saint Mary's and California are two good teams to face on the road and they're our first real games on the road. It will be interesting to see how we respond to that type of challenge. |
