EXHIBITION MATCH: No. 9 Texas at New Mexico LONGHORNS UPDATE · Friday's scrimmage is the fourth time the two teams will meet on the pitch. Texas leads the all-time series 3-0-0. The two teams last played on Sept. 7, 2006 as UT came away with a 2-1 overtime victory at the UNM Soccer Complex. The Longhorns went on to a record-setting 18-4-3 record in 2006 while the Lobos posted their second consecutive winning season with an 8-7-5 record. · The Longhorns open the season ranked nationally in two coaches' polls. UT is tied for ninth with Stanford in the 2007 Preseason National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Coaches Poll and ninth in the 2007 Preseason SoccerBuzz Coaches Poll. · UT was picked to finish second in the 2007 Big 12 Conference Preseason Coaches Poll and boasted four preseason all-conference team selections in senior midfielder Caitlin Kennedy (Euless, Texas), senior forward Kelsey Carpenter (Allen, Texas), and junior defenders Kasey Moore (Mission Viejo, Texas) and Stephanie Logterman (Austin, Texas). Additionally, NSCAA All-Americans Carpenter and Moore were named to the 2007 Missouri Athletic Club (M.A.C.) Hermann Trophy 45-player watch list for national player of the year candidates. · The Texas regular season schedule begins with a home match against TCU. The game is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. CT at Mike A. Myers Soccer and Track Stadium in Austin.
