Soccer picks up No. 11 preseason ranking from Soccer America

AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas soccer team received another preseason top-15 ranking with its No. 11 nod in the Soccer America preseason poll, the publication announced Thursday. The Horns collected a No. 8 rating from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) earlier this week. The Longhorns will face four of the 26 teams featured in the preseason poll this season -- No. 19 California, No. 20 Texas A&M, No. 22 Oklahoma State and Missouri, which tied for 25th. Defending National Champion Southern California earned the No. 1 ranking followed by North Carolina (No. 2), UCLA (No. 3), Notre Dame (No. 4) and Florida State (No. 5). Rounding out the top 10 are No. 6 Stanford, No. 7 Virginia, No. 8 Portland, No. 9 Penn State and No. 10 West Virginia. UT also was picked to win the Big 12 Championship for the first time since 2003 in a vote of the league's head coaches. The Horns placed three players on the Preseason All-Big 12 team in seniors Stephanie Logterman and Kasey Moore and sophomore Niki Arlitt. Texas begins the regular season at home (Mike A.
