Moore and Logterman named to M.A.C. Hermann Trophy watch list

Aug. 20, 2008

AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas All-American senior defender Kasey Moore and senior Stephanie Logterman were named to the 2008 Missouri Athletic Club (M.A.C) Hermann Trophy 47-player watch list, announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) this week.

Texas is one of 13 schools with more than one representative on the list. Reigning NCAA Champion Southern California, North Carolina and Penn State lead the group with three selections. Three other Big 12 programs were represented with Kristin Arnold (Texas A&M), Nikki Marshall (Colorado) and Yolanda Odenyo (Oklahoma State) earning a spot on the list.

Moore became just the second player in Texas history last season to earn back-to-back NSCAA All-American honors with her third team selection. The senior defender from Mission Viejo, Calif., was selected as the 2007 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year after aiding in UT's second-straight season with 10 shutouts. Moore has also turned into an offensive threat, as she finished the 2007 campaign third on the team in scoring, with nine goals and four assists. She also racked up a team-leading five game-winning goals.

Logterman, a five-time U.S. Youth National Team member, is also part of UT's solid back line that has blanked 20 opponents and allowed just 43 goals over the last two seasons. Despite suffering a season-ending knee injury halfway through last season, Logterman was honored with an All-Big 12 First Team selection. The senior from Austin, Texas, was also named an NSCAA Scholar All-American in 2007, becoming just the fifth Longhorn to earn the award.

Players are selected to the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy Watch List by a committee of Division I coaches who are NSCAA members. In November, the list will be narrowed to 15 semifinalists. Three finalists will be named in early December in conjunction with the NCAA Division I College Cup and will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo., on January 9, 2009. The winner of the 2008 award will be announced during a nationally-televised news conference that evening.
