Logterman, U.S. Under-20 National Team win opening match at FIFA World Championship
MOSCOW -- While The University of Texas squad faced UT-San Antonio in an exhibition match at home on Friday, sophomore defender Stephanie Logterman and the U.S. Women's Under-20 National Team defeated the Democratic Republic of Congo, 2-1 in the opening match of the 2006 FIFA Under-20 Women's World Championship. Logterman started for the national team for the fourth time since joining the team in January of 2006. The American squad attacked the Congolese goal from start to finish. The U.S. scored twice, first on a goal in the 33rd minute by Kelly O'Hara and again on a penalty kick by Amy Rodriguez in the 65th minute. O'Hara was named Sierra Mist Woman of the Match for her stellar play. Next on the schedule for the Under-20 squad is a contest against Argentina on Monday, Aug. 21, at Torpedo Stadium followed by a Thursday, Aug. 24 match with France at Dynamo Stadium.
