AUSTIN, Texas -- The NCAA announced the top women's soccer attendance averages for the 2006 season, and the University of Texas had the ninth highest attendance average in the nation for the 2006 soccer season. UT totaled 13,394 fans over 10 home games for a per match average of 1,339. It is the seventh consecutive season the Longhorns have averaged over 1,100 fans per match and the fourth highest overall season total since 1994, the first year of the program. UT had an all-time, program-best 19,236 fans and average (1,924) in 2001. Of UT's 26 opponents, 12 made the list of the top 50 programs. Portland, the Longhorns third round opponent in the 2006 NCAA Women¹s Soccer Championship third-round had the highest average (3,408 average attendance, 30,676 fans) in the country. Big 12 Regular Season Champion Texas A&M (47,035 fans, 3,360 average attendance) had the highest overall home attendance figure, and NCAA first-round host Connecticut landed one spot (No. 8) ahead of the Longhorns with an average of 1,369 (10,952 total fans). The Big 12 Conference had five schools on the list. The 2006 Big 12 Tournament Champion Longhorns finished second in the conference behind the Aggies and ahead of No. 12 Colorado (1,193 average), No. 43 Missouri (625 average) and No. 50 Oklahoma State (572 average). Logterman's WNT world tour continues: Texas defender Stephanie Logterman helped the United States Under-21 Women's National Team to a 4-1 win over FC Gutersloh of the German Second Division on Friday, May 25. Coached by current Portland head coach Bill Irwin, also won a match on Thursday against Essen-Schonebeck of the German First Division by a final tally of 5-2. The women¹s national team is in German for three contests against the top women¹s clubs in the country. Logterman has seen action with the U-21 squad since January of 2007, with her most recent action coming at the 2007 Futbol Internacional Tournament. The U.S. won the first two games before losing to Canada in penalty kicks in the final match. Fellow UT teammate Kelsey Carpenter scored goals in both American victories. SoccerBuzz Magazine recruiting rankings: SoccerBuzz magazine has the Longhorns rated second in the Central Region and No. 12 in the nation in the 2007 Top Recruiting Classes rankings. The incoming class includes U.S. National Team participants Erica Campanelli, Kendall Campise, and Brooke Lee. Texas is highest rated Big 12 team ahead of No. 24 Texas A&M.
