Q&A with Greta Carter
On spring soccer: Spring soccer is always really difficult. We practice four times a week and do weights after that, so it gets pretty tiring, but this upcoming week is our final week. We finish on Thursday and I’m just glad to be done. It’s my senior season so it’s nice going out with a strong finish in the spring. On getting one step closer to the fall: That’s the way you always feel at the end of spring. (Strength and conditioning coach) Angel (Spassov) works us really hard in the weight room. We just had our testing the past couple weeks and you can see the improvement even from the beginning of spring to now. He has us heading in the right direction for summer and then into the fall. On the spring game that really showed what they had been working on: The first couple of games in the spring we didn’t play really well, but then the last game we played against Monterrey, everyone was just really ready to play. It was our last spring game. We really focused on our weak foot this spring and you could really see that coming out in the game. Everyone was very excited and you could just feel the chemistry was there at the end of spring coming together. On the new feel of the team since losing people to graduation: We have very small numbers so it has really given us a chance to bond together. We have about twelve girls on the team when everyone is there. This spring was really awesome to get to know people even more so than you would. We have about 10 people coming in so it's going to be really different in the fall, but I think that will bring a fun, new chemistry to the team, so we’re excited. On what she has improved on most: I would say, for me, it has been my shooting. (Head coach) Chris (Petrucelli) has really been getting on my case about my long range shooting. I could really feel in the last game of spring the way I have improved and I took a few good shots that normally I would shy away from even taking in a game so that’s one of the things I felt I have most improved on. On what she is looking forward to over the summer: The first month or so I’ll probably take it easy, maybe just do some light running and then get myself refreshed, because you get really tired by the end of spring. Then I’ll just be excited to get back running, playing soccer with some of my friends that live close to home, and just getting some pick up games going and then getting back on track for fall.
