Each week TexasSports.com will catch up with a different player to get their perspectives about soccer and the off-season, as well as some interesting facts about themselves. This week’s player is freshman defender/midfielder Tracey Whitley. Tracey enjoys the extra free time she has during the off-season, but is excited about the upcoming 2006 campaign.
What are you looking forward to most in the upcoming season?
“I love the regular season. The games are a lot of fun and definitely the best part about the year. It’s also great to travel as a team. We laugh a lot together and all become so much closer.”
How much free time do you have now compared to once the regular season begins?
“During the week, (while in the midst of spring practice), we surprisingly have about the same amount of free time as in the regular season. We practice early in the morning both during the regular season and in the spring, so it’s nice to have the afternoons off. Still, without all the away games in the regular season, we have more free time on the weekends.”
What do you like to do in your free time?
“I like to hang out with my friends and go shopping. I also love to play other sports, especially basketball and volleyball.”
What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?
“I absolutely love mint chocolate chip! I’ve liked it ever since I can remember eating ice cream. I also like Oreos on top of my ice cream and could put them on about anything.”
What’s your favorite place on campus?
“I love the six-pack because of how the trees surround the lawn in the center of campus. I wish I had more time to spend out there, but I enjoy just walking by because it’s so pretty.”
