Off-season drills: Carrie Schmit
Each week during soccer’s spring practice season, TexasSports.com will catch up with a different player to get their perspectives about soccer and the off-season, as well as some interesting facts about themselves. This week’s player is junior midfielder Carrie Schmit. A leader on and off the field, Schmit also has an adventurous side that likes the outdoors. What are your individual goals for the 2006 season? “I want to be a more developed leader and apply what I learned from last year to this season in order to help our team win.” What’s your favorite thing to do in Austin? “I love to go swimming at Barton Creek. I love being outside and, with Austin’s warm weather, I can’t think of a better place to spend my free time.” How many pairs of shoes do you own? How many are soccer shoes? “I probably have at least 30 pairs of shoes. I go through a new pair of soccer shoes every three months, so obviously, I have a lot of soccer shoes in my closet as well.” What is the craziest thing that you’ve ever done? “I went to the lake once with a broken foot, but that didn’t stop me from jumping off a 40-foot cliff into the water for fun.”
