Soccer's Logterman earns second-straight NSCAA Scholar All-America honor
Jan. 9, 2009
AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas senior Stephanie Logterman earned her second-straight National Soccer Coaches of America Association (NSCAA)/adidas Scholar All-America accolade with her second team selection, the organization has announced. Logterman becomes just the second player in Texas history to garner the honor two times after being selected to the first team in 2007. The defender from Austin carries a 3.88 GPA in Humanities/Pre-Med and is also a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection, a two-time NSCAA Scholar All-South Region First Team pick and a three-time ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District Six recipient. On the pitch, Logterman helped lead the Longhorns to their eighth-straight NCAA Tournament while finishing the season third on the team in scoring with 11 points off four goals and three assists. The defender also helped the UT backline post a school-record 11 shutouts and hold opponents to just 14 goals in 21 matches. Overall, Texas has placed five student athletes on the NSCAA Scholar All-America team and has been represented by at least one player every year since the 2004 season when UT earned its first selection. Logterman joins former UT standout Kelsey Carpenter on the multiple-selection list as Carpenter was named to the first team in 2006 and 2007. A student-athlete must be a junior or above with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average, start more than 50 percent of all matches and be a significant contributor to the team to be nominated for NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-America honors.
