Doniak lifts Soccer over Baylor, 1-0
Oct. 10, 2010 Box Score | Photo Gallery AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas junior midfielder Kylie Doniak provided the gamewinner in the 12th minute to lift the Longhorns over Baylor, 1-0, Sunday night out at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The Horns earned their first Big 12 win of the season and are now 8-3-3 and 1-2-2 in league action while Baylor is 9-5-1 and 2-4-0 in Big 12 play. Doniak scored on a free kick from the far right side of the field right near the sideline. . The junior sent in a long cross to the middle of the box that took a good bounce and found the back of the net. It was Doniak's third goal of the year and second gamewinner. Texas outshot the Bears 10-8 and held a 6-3 advantage on corner kicks. Sophomore Alexa Gaul earned her sixth shutout of the year and made five saves. In addition, the Longhorns extended their home unbeaten streak to 13-straight matches, dating back to Oct. 2, 2009. Up next for the Longhorns are road matches at Missouri (Fri., Oct. 15) and Iowa State (Sun., Oct. 17). POST MATCH QUOTES On preparing for the next Big 12 games: Well, you know we have a trip to Missouri next weekend and Iowa State and Missouri is very similar to Baylor in the way that they play, so this was probably good preparation for us. But we have to go get some wins on the road.
