Photo Gallery AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas soccer team used a lone goal from sophomore Kristin Cummins to post a 1-0 victory over UC-Riverside Sunday night out at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The Longhorns recorded their first shutout of the season and stay undefeated with a 4-0-1 mark. UC-Riverside falls to 1-3-0 on the year. Cummins connected on her first career goal when she fired in a shot that had bounced off UC-Riverside keeper Jessica White. Redshirt freshman Leah Fortune got the UT attack started when she outplayed the UCR backline and brought the ball deep into the goal box. Fortune took a shot but White made a diving save that bounced off her hands right to Cummins who connected for the goal. Cummins is the ninth Longhorn to record a goal this year and Texas' 24 total shots mark the third time this season the Horns have recorded at least 20 shots. Fortune led all Texas players with five shots, three of which were on frame. Sophomore goalkeeper Alexa Gaul recorded the shutout, moving her career total to five. The Longhorns head to Charlottesville, Va., next weekend to face Virginia on Friday at 6 p.m. Central and William & Mary on Sunday at 11 a.m. Central. POST MATCH QUOTES Head coach Chris Petrucelli On the philosophy to beating UC-Riverside: We played a team tonight that was really focused on not letting us score. We knew it was going to be a low scoring game. They made it very hard on us with all the defenders they had pushed back. We struggled through it, but eventually got the goal and the shutout. On the games against Virginia and William & Mary next week: I think it'll be a fun game for us in a great environment against great teams. I know our team will go in there confident, fight hard and we'll see what happens.
