Rowing places two student-athletes on CRCA All-South Region teams

AUSTIN, Texas - Two members of the Texas Rowing program have earned 2012 CRCA (Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association) Division I All-South Region awards. Senior starboard Felicia Izaguirre-Werner (Niagara on the Lake, Ontario, Canada) earned first team honors while junior starboard Laurel McCaig (Carver, Mass.) earned second team honors. Nominated student-athletes are evaluated on the strength of their team's regional finish, coaches recommendations and 2,000-meter erg score. Nominees must be eligible student-athletes who have competed in their teams' varsity boat in 75 percent of races this season. These athletes will be eligible for All-America awards selection following the NCAA Rowing Championships. This is Izaguirre-Werner's first all-region selection while McCaig is now a two-time all-region pick after earning first team honors last year. Texas Rowing has now placed at least one student-athlete on the CRCA all-region team four consecutive years.
