Rowing has strong showing on final day of San Diego Crew Classic
SAN DIEGO -- The University of Texas women's rowing team had a strong showing from each of its three boats on the final day of racing at the 33rd annual San Diego Crew Classic on Sunday, April 2, at Crown Point Shores on Mission Bay. The Longhorns first varsity eight placed fourth in the Jessop-Whittier Petite, the novice eight boat finished second in their grand final race and the second varsity eight placed fourth in their petite final. UT's first novice eight boat, which won its qualifying heat on Saturday, competed in the finals of the women's collegiate novice section and placed second in 6:47:95. California took top honors by a slim margin in 6:46:90. The University of Texas women's rowing team is back in action April when it travels to Boston, Mass., to compete against Brown and Boston in duel meet action.
