No. 16 Rowing notches five wins against Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The 16th-ranked Texas Rowing team notched victories in five of its six races on Saturday morning in its dual race with Kansas at the Wyandotte Reservoir. The Longhorns posted wins in the first varsity eight, second varsity eight, first varsity four, second varsity four and novice eight races.

The Longhorns first varsity eight crew of coxswain Megan Kelly, stroke Jennifer VanderMaarel, Laurel McCaig, Jackie Gorcyca, Anna Thomson, Jelena Zunic, Karli Sheahan Sydney Boyes and Felicia Izaguirre-Werner posted a time of 6:45.3 to best KU's time of 7:05.4.

Texas second varsity eight boat comprised of coxswain Emma Dirks, stroke Charity McDonald, Courtney Nicklas, Katarina Susac, Tajana Lovric, Hannah Moon, Chelsea Burns, Olivia Nail and Jessica Glennie defeated the Jayhawks, 6:54.1-to-7:10.0.

 

 

In the first varsity four race, Texas' crew of coxswain Katie Sayre, Taylor Parker, Margaret Harlow, Sally Tunell and Sarah Pedersen downed KU, 7:44.9-to-7:59.5.

Texas' second varsity four boat of coxswain Emily Lantz, Lyndsey DuBose, Shelly Beck, Devon Burns and Lauren Lehman knocked off the Jayhawks, 7:53.0-to-8:06.3.

The Horns' first novice eight boat comprised of coxswain Kat Tong, stroke Stephanie Bickford, Libby Allbrecht, Deidra Perez, Jessica Jin, Sarah Jones, Kaylinh Ly, Ashley McCrory and Sonia Puente won their race, 7:00.5-to-7:11.8.

Texas' final entry in the second novice eight race fell to Kansas, 7:05.5-to-7:10.3.

The Longhorns return to the water on Saturday-Sunday, April 16-17 when it travels to Lake Monticello, Va. To square off with UCLA, Michigan State and Clemson.
