Women's Golf finishes 13th at Derby
AUBURN, Ala. -- Senior Devan Andersen and junior Julia Best both had strong showings as the University of Texas' women's golf team finishes competition at the Derby in Auburn, Ala. in 13th place Saturday. The Longhorns finished with a combined score of 929. Host Auburn won the tournament with a three round score of 879, Duke followed in second with a total of 880 and Georgia was third with a score of 892. Virginia and Tennessee rounded out the top 5 with scores of 893 and 894, respectively. Andersen finished in a tie for 24th place after shooting rounds of 72, 76 and 79 for a total of 227, 11-over par. Best was second on the team and tied for 37th place with scores of 79, 75 and 75 for a total score of 229, 13-over par. Freshman Caney Hines was third on the team in a tie for 62th place with a 21-over par score of 237 after 18s of 84, 76 and 77. Sophomore Kelley Louth and freshman Kristin Walla rounded out the five for UT and ended in ties for 66th (240, 24-over par) and 84th (165, 37-over par), respectively. The Longhorns will now take a break until they return to the links March 6-8 when they head to Guadalajara, Mexico for the Cal-Guadalajara Invitational.
