Women's Golf preview: The Auburn Tiger-Derby Invitational
WHAT: Texas takes part in its third tournament of the 2006-07 season this weekend at the 11th annual Auburn Tiger-Derby Invitational. WHERE: The tournament will be played at the par 72, 6,310-yard Auburn University Club in Auburn, Ala. WHEN: The tournament field will play 18 holes each day from Friday, Oct. 27 through Sunday, Oct. 29. Play begins at 9:30 a.m. CDT on Friday with a shotgun start. WHO: The tournament features host Auburn, Alabama, Baylor, Birmingham-Southern, Central Florida, Florida, Florida State, Furman, Kanxas, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. LONGHORN STARTERS: UT coach Susan Watkins will send junior Angela Akins (Horseshoe Bay, Texas), sophomores Caney Hines (San Antonio, Texas) and Kristin Walla (Aspen, Colo.) and freshmen Alex Richards (Austin, Texas), and Brittany Tomerlin (San Angelo, Texas) to represent the Longhorns. Hines led Texas with a 12-over par showing to finish in a tie for 26th place at the Lady Tar Invitational earlier this month in Chapel Hill, N.C.
