Hines leads Women's Golf on final day of Lady Tar Heel Invitational
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- University of Texas sophomore Caney Hines (San Antonio, Texas) carded an eight-over 80 to finish in a tie for 26th place Sunday at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational at the UNC Finley Golf Course. The Longhorns finished in 17th place after shooting 43-over par for the day. Vanderbilt captured the 54-hole event with a final total of 29-over par, and Texas A&M's Ashley Knoll and Florida State's Caroline Westrup shared medalist honors at two-under par. Hines, one of two sophomores competing this week for UT, entered the final day tied for ninth place before dropping into a tie for 22nd place. Brittany Tomerlin (San Angelo, Texas), the Longhorns' top freshman finisher, tied for 81st place at 32-over par for the tournament. Sophomore Kristin Walla (Aspen, Colo.) finished 85th at 36 over, while freshman Raelyn Smith (Odessa, Texas) placed 86th at 38-over par. Freshman Alex Richards (Austin, Texas) took 88th place at 46-over par. The Longhorns return to the links on Thursday, Oct. 26 at The Derby Invitational in Auburn, Ala.
